NHL clears Evander Kane of betting on games, reveals 'unrelated' investigation

The NHL announced the findings of an investigation into allegations that San Jose Sharks star Evander Kane bet on games, including ones in which he played.

The league on Wednesday cleared Kane of "throwing games," a claim leveled by his wife, Anna, on social media last month.

The investigation turned up "no evidence" that Kane bet on games or tried to "negatively" influence his team's outcome, the league said in a statement.

However, the NHL added that Kane was being investigated for "potential wrongdoing" in an "unrelated" matter.
