For over half a decade now, Matt Harvey has been attempting to get his career back on track.

Will this be the year?

We’ll see, but expect him to get an opportunity somewhere.

Harvey currently is a free agent after bouncing around from five different teams – the Mets, Reds, Angels, Royals and Orioles – in as many seasons. Now, not only is he a 32-year-old free agent with an ERA through the roof of late, but he also could be suspended 60 games after admitting he distributed opiods to Tyler Skaggs.

But photos and videos on his Instagram show some promise. Harvey looks physically healthy and one video showed him hitting 95 on the gun.

Might that be enough for a team to take a chance on him?

“He is (drawing interest from teams),” Audacy MLB insider Jon Heyman said on the “Big Time Baseball” podcast Thursday. “My understanding is he’s throwing well. Somebody must have gone to look because I’ve heard that he’s drawing interest. I know his ERAs were not great the last few years … but we know that it’s in there, he’s not old.

“Obviously had some issues, which we know about, and if he gets everything in order and it looks like he’s in good shape, it might be worth taking a flier on him. But I have heard there is interest and I do expect that he will get signed somewhere.”

At this point it would be unreasonable to expect Harvey to snap back to the form he displayed earlier in his career. However, his numbers, though at times ghastly, have technically been improving.

If he can find a level above where he’s been, perhaps he could be a back of the rotation starter for a team this season.
