The Padres defeated the Giants 4-1 on Monday night, winning their third game in a row and fifth in their last six games. The game started out as a pitcher's duel, with Yu Darvish and Logan Webb trading zeroes into the 6th inning. The Padres struck first on Jackson Merrill's RBI-double to bring home Fernando Tatis Jr. in the 6th inning. Rafael Devers responded with a solo homer off of Darvish in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game. Logan Webb came back out to pitch the 7th inning, but wasn't able to make it through the inning, as he yielded a go-ahead RBI-single to Jake Cronenworth and a 2-run homer to Freddy Fermin for good measure. That would be all the cushion the Padres' bullpen needed, as Jeremiah Estrada, Mason Miller and Robert Suarez pitched three scoreless innings to lock down the 4-1 victory. Nestor Cortes will square off against Robbie Ray on Tuesday.
