Bob Melvin announced prior to Friday's game against the Dodgers that catcher Luis Campusano underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb, and could miss the next 8 weeks of the season. Campusano has been out since April 14th, and was hitting .238 with 1 home run and 2 RBIs in 7 games so far. The Padres had hoped Campusano would be the primary catcher for Austin Nola this season.
