Adam Mazur made his third career start on Saturday afternoon, and labored through 3.2 innings. The rookie walked 6 batters through his first 3 innings, but escaped unscathed in each one. Mazur retired the first two batters he faced in the 4th inning, but after surrendering back-to-back doubles and allowing the first run of the game, Mike Shildt pulled Mazur in favor of Jhony Brito. JD Martinez was the first batter Brito faced, and he blasted a 2-run homer to give the Mets a 3-0 lead. Jackson Merrill's power surge continued, as he hit a solo homer in the 5th inning, his 4th homer in the last 3 games. But it wasn't enough, as that was the only run the Padres would score en-route to a 5-1 loss. The Padres will try to avoid being swept with a win on Sunday.
