The Padres defeated the Astros 11-2 on Friday, as Blake Snell delivered another quality start, and actually raised his ERA in the process. MLB's ERA leader allowed 2 earned runs in 6 innings, raising his ERA from 2.50 to 2.52 as his pursuit of another Cy Young continued. After falling behind 1-0 in the 1st inning, San Diego scored 6 unanswered runs to take a 6-1 lead before the Astros were able to cross home plate again on an RBI-double from Jose Abreu in the 6th. But Manny Machado tacked on some insurance runs with a 2-run double in the 7th. Trent Grisham put the game well out of hand with a 3-run blast in the 8th inning, as the Padres won by a comfortable margin of 9 runs, thanks in large part to the Padres hitting 6-10 with runners in scoring position. Seth Lugo will take the mound for the Padres on Saturday.
