The Padres defeated the Giants 6-3 on Friday. Manny Machado started off the game with a bang, blasting a 3-run homer in the 1st inning, the same day as he was named the National League's starting third baseman for the All-Star Game. Blake Snell had perhaps his best start of the season, allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 11 over 6 innings en route to his first win of the season. The Padres would add an insurance run in the 6th and two more in the 8th, and Nick Martinez earned a 3-inning save, allowing just a 2-run homer with 2 outs in the 9th inning.
