The Padres lost in Milwaukee for the second straight game, losing 5-4. Brewers starter Freddy Peralta struck out 9 over 5.1 innings, and allowed 2 earned runs on just 2 hits, including a solo homer to Xander Bogaerts. Pedro Avila began the game with 4 scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the 5th. After back to back infield singles, one of them a bunt towards the pitcher, Andruw Monasterio drove in two runs with a single to left. Avila would allow another walk and an 2-run double, before being lifted for Scott Barlow, who then allowed an RBI-double before getting out of the inning. The Padres trailed 5-1, when Manny Machado drove in Ha-Seong Kim in the 6th. Juan Soto would smash a 2-run homer to left-center in the 8th to pull the Padres to within 1, but Milwaukee closer Devin Williams slammed the door shut in the 9th. The Padres will try to avoid being swept when they send Michael Wacha to the mound on Sunday.
