The Padres went wire-to-wire for a 5-0 win over the Giants on Friday night. Fernando Tatis Jr. blasted a 2-run homer in the 1st, and Xander Bogaerts added an RBI-double, to give Dylan Cease a 3-run cushion before ever throwing a pitch. Cease was fantastic, striking out 10 batters over 6 scoreless frames, and generating a whopping 22 swinging strikes. Jackson Merrill scored from a second base on a throwing error by Logan Webb with two outs in the 4th inning and Manny Machado added an RBI-double in the 9th inning, as the Padres were able to enjoy a drama-free victory on the same night that the Diamondbacks lost 2-1.
