The Padres dropped Friday's series opener to the Astros 6-4. Kyle Hart allowed 10 hits and 5 earned runs in 5 innings. Astros rookie Cam Smith did plenty of damage himself, blasting two home runs and driving in four from the 9th spot in the order. Trailing 5-2 in the 7th inning, Luis Arraez hit a 2-run home run to bring the Padres to within a run. But the Astros would add an insurance run in the 8th, and Josh Hader pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn the save. Saturday's pitching matchup will be Michael King against Hayden Wesneski.
