The Padres lost 3-2 to the Cardinals in 10 innings on Tuesday. Blake Snell delivered his best start of the season, registering his first quality start, and completing 6 innings for the first time this year. St. Louis put two runs on the board in the 3rd inning, and the 2-0 score held until the 8th inning, when Trent Grisham hit a game-tying 2-run homer. San Diego had an opportunity to score in the top half of the 10th inning, but Jose Azocar was thrown out at home trying to score from second base on Jurickson Profar's single. In the bottom half of the inning, Tommy Edman stole third base after starting out on second base, and then scored on Albert Pujols' game-winning sacrifice fly. The Padres will try to avoid being swept in the series finale Wednesday morning at 10:15 am.
