Blake Snell pitched his finest game of the season at Coors Field on Sunday afternoon, striking out 12 while walking none and allowing just 3 hits and 1 earned run in 7 efficient innings with just 85 pitches. Jake Cronenworth's 2-run homer in the 4th inning broke a 1-1 tie, but Coco Montes tied the game in the bottom of the 8th with a 2-run homer of his own. The Padres briefly reclaimed the lead in the 9th when Ha-Seong Kim scampered home from 3rd base on a wild pitch, but Ryan McMahon blasted an upper-deck home run off of Tom Cosgrove to tie it back up in the bottom of the 9th, before a rain delay that lasted nearly an hour and a half.
Once the game resumed, Brent Honeywell entered, and retired the first two batters he faced, but then surrendered a walk-off home run to Nolan Jones. The Padres will return home and enjoy a day off on Monday before welcoming the Cleveland Guardians to town.
