According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Padres have signed free agent starter Nick Pivetta to a 4-year $55 million contract. The deal includes opt outs after Year 2 and Year 3. Pivetta will get a $3 million signing bonus, to go along with salaries $1 million this season, $19 million in 2026, $14 million in 2027 and $18 million in 2028 according to Passan. Pivetta had a 4.14 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 172 strikeouts in 145.2 innings pitched in 2024.
