The Padres dropped the second game of their 3-game set against the Dodgers on Saturday night, losing 5-0. Matt Waldron pitched very well for the Padres, allowing just a solo home run to Freddie Freeman through the first five innings. With the Dodgers leading 1-0 in the 6th, Waldron got Mookie Betts to ground out to begin the inning, and then issued a walk to Shohei Ohtani. Mike Shildt decided to make a pitching change before Waldron got into a deeper jam, and brought in Adrian Morejon. After getting Freeman to line out for the second out of the inning, he issued back-to-back walks to Will Smith and Max Muncy to load the bases with two outs. Shildt then brought in Enyel De Los Santos to face Teoscar Hernandez with the bases loaded and two outs, and Hernandez hit a grand slam that effectively ended the game. San Diego got just 6 hits on the night and went 0-6 with runners in scoring position. Yu Darvish will draw the start in Sunday's rubber match.
