The Padres announced on Tuesday that they've signed INF/OF Matt Carpenter to a 1-year contract. Carpenter appeared in 47 games for the Yankees in 2022, after spending the previous 11 seasons with the Cardinals. Carpenter was a revelation in New York, swatting 15 home runs with an OPS of 1.138 in just 128 at-bats, and accumulating 2.4 WAR.
