The Padres' bats came alive on Sunday afternoon, as Matt Carpenter led the Padres to a 7-5 win over the Diamondbacks with his best game in a Padres uniform. Carpenter went 3-3 with 5 RBIs, as he crushed a 2-run double to dead center in the 1st inning, an RBI-sac fly in the 3rd, a solo home run in the 5th, and an RBI-double in the 7th inning. Arizona scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th and two more in the bottom of the 8th, making a 7-1 deficit a 7-5 deficit, but Josh Hader pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his 8th save of the season. The Padres climbed back to .500 at 12-12, and will now fly to Chicago for a 3-game series with the Cubs.
