The Padres came from behind AGAIN to win a ball game after trailing late in the game. Martin Perez struggled early, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits and a walk, and exited with 2 outs in the 5th inning. The Padres trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th, but Manny Machado blasted a 2-run homer to deep left field to tie the game at 3-3. Tanner Scott entered to pitch the 8th inning, and found himself immediately in a bases loaded no out situation. Pinch-hitter Christian Vasquez would deliver a 2-run single to put the Twins back on top 5-3. Donovan Solano and Jake Cronenworth each delivered 2-strike singles to begin the bottom of the 8th, bringing Jurickson Profar to the plate with two men on and no outs, representing the go-ahead run. Profar did exactly what he's done all year long, and that's deliver in the biggest way at the most crucial time, blasting a 3-run go ahead home run to put the Padres back on top. Xander Bogaerts then drove in an insurance run, and the Friars handed Robert Suarez a 2-run cushion entering the 9th. The flamethrower would pitch a perfect 1-2-3 inning to earn his 29th save of the season, as the Padres improved to 72-55 on the season. The Padres will have a chance to complete a sweep of the Twins on Wednesday afternoon.
