According to Audacy MLB Insider Jon Heyman, the Giants have signed former Padres starter Sean Manaea to a 2-year $25 million contract that includes an opt out after the first season. The Padres signed Manaea right before the start of the 2022 season. He started 28 games with a 4.96 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP and 156 strikeouts in 158 innings pitched. After a very strong start to the season, Manaea struggled mightily in the second half of the season, and had his spot skipped in the rotation several times. When the playoffs began, he was moved to the bullpen.
