The Padres lost to the White Sox in Chicago 4-3 on Friday evening, dropping their 3rd game in the last 4. Dylan Cease allowed 4 earned runs in 6 innings in his return to the Southside. Cease ran into trouble in the 4th inning, when he walked a hitter, hit two others and allowed two RBI-singles, allowing the White Sox to reclaim the lead after the Padres came back from an early 2-0 deficit to tie the game at 2. Gavin Sheets was also making his return to Rate Field in Chicago, and brought in a run in the 6th inning to make it 4-3. Unfortunately, the Padres only had one runner reach base in the final three innings, but Bryce Johnson was caught stealing second base after pinch-running for Freddie Fermin in the 7th inning, and the Padres lost the game 4-3. Yu Darvish will try to bring the Padres closer to clinching a playoff spot on Saturday.
