The San Diego State Aztecs are having one of their best seasons in school history, thanks to excellent contributions from several areas. Several individuals have been recognized for their efforts.
Head coach Brady Hoke has been named Mountain West Coach of the Year as he's led the Aztecs to an 11-1 record an an appearance in the conference championship game.
Cameron Thomas was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, joining Kirk Morrison and Damontae Kazee as the only Aztecs to win the award. Thomas has 66 total tackles and 10.5 sacks so far this season.
Punter/kicker Matt Araiza was named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year, an award also won by former running back Rashaad Penny. Araiza has averaged 51.5 yards per punt while also making 15 of 24 field goals.
