San Diego State attempted to bounce back from their loss against Grand Canyon with a complete performance against UC Irvine. Mission accomplished...for a half. SDSU was without Jaedon LeDee, their leading scorer and rebounder, due to a sprained elbow. The Aztecs held a 9-point lead at the half, and led by as many as 16 points in the second half. But then the Aztecs went ice cold from the floor, and failed to make a basket for nearly 14 minutes. SDSU trailed by 5 points with 45 seconds remaining, but Jay Pal hit a free throw and Darrion Trammell made a 3 to pull the Aztecs to within a point with 31 seconds remaining. Pal's offensive rebound on a missed 3-pointer by Trammell set up Micah Parrish's layup with 10 seconds remaining, which proved to be the game-winning bucket. Parrish was fouled on the play, but missed the free throw. UC Irvine's Justin Hohn put up a 3-pointer to win the game, but it was no good, and the Aztecs held on to win 63-62 and improve to 8-2 on the season. SDSU's next game is on the 19th against St. Katherine.
