San Diego State defeated Toledo 17-14 in an absolute nail-biter. After leading by 10-0 for the majority of the game, Toledo rallied in the 4th quarter, scoring two touchdowns and playing stubborn defense, briefly taking a 14-10 lead late in the 4th. Caden McDonald would seal the win with an interception on the following position, as the Aztecs improved to 2-2 on the season.
Despite his strong play on the game's final drive, Braxton Burmeister struggled for most of the day. He completed just 13 of 24 passes for 65 yards, no touchdowns and an interception, while averaging just 2.7 YPA. But he did damage on the ground, gaining 44 yards on 8 carries.
