San Diego State lost its second consecutive game against a ranked opponent, losing to #16 Oregon State 26-9 on Saturday. The Aztecs' calling card, their running game, again struggled, amassing just 70 yards on 34 carries for an average of 2.1 yards per carry. While the defense was able to hold Beavers quarterback DJ Uiagelelei to less than a 50% completion percentage and intercept him twice, it wasn't enough to get the Aztecs' offense going. Their lone touchdown came with just over 9 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter and the Aztecs trailing by 16 points at the time. Jaylon Armstead scored on a 6-yard scamper to pull within 10 points, but the 2-point conversion was failed, keeping it a 2-score game. On the Beavers' first play from scrimmage after Armstead's touchdown, Uiagelelei hit Anthony Gould for a 75-yard touchdown, ending any hopes the Aztecs had for a comeback. San Diego State will host Boise State on Friday night at 7:30 pm.
