San Diego FC was shut out 1-0 at home against Toronto FC on Wednesday night. It was difficult to separate SDFC being shut out one day after terminating the loan of one of the team's top scorers, Milan Iloski, who returned to his Danish club on Tuesday after the two sides failed to agree to a new contract. SDFC led the time of possession battle at 66.6%, but only mustered one shot on goal. Toronto FC scored the match's lone goal on a penalty kick in the 20th minute, and that was the extent of the scoring. SDFC caught what appeared to be a bad break when Chucky Lozano's shot from inside the box appeared to hit the hand of a Toronto defender, but a handball was not called, which would have resulted in a penalty kick for the home team. SDFC remains atop the Western Conference in the standings with 42 points, just one point ahead of the Vancouver Whitecaps, who will arrive in San Diego for a huge match on Saturday night.
