The Dallas Cowboys are firmly in a win-now mindset with the trade deadline one day away.
The 6-2 Cowboys already made one trade, acquiring Johnathan Hankins from the Las Vegas Raiders last week. And with the deadline set for 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday, the Cowboys have areas that can be upgraded and a front office willing to be aggressive.
Stephen Jones made that abundantly clear Monday in his weekly appearance on the “K&C Masterpiece.”
“If the right situation is there, we’re always looking to make our team better," Jones said. "Obviously, we’re very much in the thick of a championship run this year, so absolutely, if we see the right situation present itself -- you know Jerry as well, who has the final call on this, he’s an aggressive guy.
“If the right situation is there and we think it can make a big difference for us, then we’d be more than willing to pull the trigger on it. I think we’ve got our team in a very good spot, we’ve got great depth on this team, and certainly if we see a player out there that can make us better on either side of the ball, we would take a long, hard look at it."
Wide receiver is the most obvious area that could use an upgrade, with Chase Claypool, Elijah Moore, D.J. Moore and Kendrick Bourne all representing potential options.
Regardless, the Cowboys’ bye week could get off to a busy start.
