Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Clayton Kershaw gave another example of impact sports can have on people’s lives off the field.

A young man, around 10-years-old went up to Kershaw after he finished answering questions from reporters during All-Star festivities.

The boy told Kershaw that it was his grandfather’s wish to meet him and legendary Dodgers voice Vin Scully before he died.

Unfortunately, the boy’s grandfather died of cancer and never got to meet him, so his grandson did it for him on his behalf.

“My grandpa loved you . . . he wanted to meet you and Vin Scully one day, so this moment is important to me because I’m meeting you for him,” said the boy.

“Oh wow,” responded Kershaw. The boy continued talking about his grandfather passing away from brain cancer but started to break down.

That’s when Kershaw got up to hug the boy telling him it took a lot of courage for him to walk up there in front of all those reporters to talk to him.

The boy took a picture together with the boy thanking him for his time.

Sports fans can be jaded sometimes but it’s a moment like that, that remind us how sports can bring families together and how athletes can help form life-long memories.

"It's about those moments," said Dorin Dickerson on the Fan Morning Show Wednesday. "It's a privilege and most athletes do feel that way and moments like that are why we love sports."
