Most recently, fans are in hysterics over a commercial starring Sarah McLachlan, but not the same hysterics we’re used to when seeing her on our screens.
Known for her work as an animal rights activist and her song, “Angel,” famously being used in the ASPCA commercials, fans often well-up with tears at the sight of her on their screens, but this one is different… we promise!
McLachlan pokes fun at her own reputation in this Busch Light commercial that begins with the beer’s mascot, "Busch Guy," reviewing survival skills. He lists food, drink (Busch, of course) and shelter being the three necessities.
As he mentions shelter, Sarah opens up a tent from the inside where she’s sitting with a wolf.
“Hello, I’m Sarah McLachlan,” she says, mocking herself as that’s how she starts all ASPCA commercials. “For just dollars a day you can help helpless animals find shelter.”
Busch guy interrupts her by cracking open a beer and boldly stating, “Wrong shelter Sarah. Also, that’s a wolf.”
The collaboration was a natural one for Sarah, who praised Busch for sharing her “love of animals and wilderness.”
“Busch Light shares my love of animals and the wilderness so, while it seems unexpected, this spot is a really clever and good-hearted mix of my passions and their brand," she said. "Last year, Kenny G revived the beer brand's classic 'Head for the Mountains' song and that's a tough act to follow, but I love that Busch Light is playing into nostalgia again with a new rendition of my 'Angel' ASPCA commercial and I can't wait to see how people react!"
