Breanna Lockwood and her husband Aaron have been trying for a baby since their wedding in 2016. Unfortunately, they haven't had any luck.

After multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization, multiple surgeries, and sadly several miscarriages, Lockwood's fertility doctor told her that she would need to start considering surrogacy because her uterus would be unable to withstand a pregnancy.

The couple did find a surrogate though, Breanna's own mother, 51-year-old Julie Loving.

Ten days before her due date, Loving was induced, and gave birth to her own grandbaby, a daughter named Briar Juliette Lockwood. Lockwood told Good Morning America, "It was definitely a surreal process. All the feelings came at once, just watching my mom go through everything and all she's done for me and is continuing to do."

Lockwood's doctor suggested finding a family member or friend to act as a surrogate, since going through an agency can cost more than $100,000. Loving was on board from the start, and even suggested the idea to her daughter .She said, "I've run 19 marathons and done many triathlons. I felt like health-wise I could do it and I had really easy pregnancies with my two kids."

Lockwood says she is already planning daily visits for Briar to visit her grandmother, with whom she predicts will always have a special bond.
