As any longtime Texan knows, mums are the best part of homecoming aside from naming the king and queen. Last Friday, Arlington Independent School district set a Guinness World Record for the Biggest Mum.
The AISD Special Education department combined two meaningful causes to create the 20-foot floral accessory. They wanted to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness month in conjunction with homecoming, so the vertical corsage is mainly pink. It was crafted using 450 yards of ribbon.
The giant art project was constructed in a driveway and will be on display in the Arlington Public Library in downtown for the rest of the month.
