An restaurant in San Antonio is providing a huge boost to an iconic brunch spot struggling due to flooding issues.
The Comfort Café had to close this past Tuesday due to flooding issues caused by a run of severe weather. The volunteer-based restaurant operates under a "pay-what-you-can" basis, and benefits a community of recovering addicts. It also employs community members who are working through or have graduated from the recovery program.
Adrian Martinez, owner of Smoke BBQ + Skybar saw how this iconic business was struggling, and decided to lend a helping hand.
He decided to donate ALL the money generated from the ticket sales of a concert his restaurant was hosting to the Comfort Café. Martinez told mySA, "We've had more success at Smoke than I could have ever imagined. With our growth comes gratitude and this was a perfect opportunity to do our part in utilizing our brand to help out a fellow restaurant."
Smoke BBQ + Skybar posted on their Facebook, "When something like this happens it's our job as a community to come together and help."
Comfort Café has not been available for comment, but shares online that their team is "grateful and humbled."
