Actress Christina Applegate got candid about the struggles she faced filming the third, and final, season of her Netflix series Dead To Me following her diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis.
"I put on 40 pounds; I can't walk without a cane," Applegate told the New York Times. "I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that."
Production wrapped on Dead To Me April 25, 2022, following delays in production due to COVID-19 and Applegate's diagnosis. It is set to premiere on Netflix November 17.
At one point, producers considered stopping production altogether, but Applegate insisted they keep filming.
"I said, 'No. We're going to do it, but we're going to do it on my terms,'" Applegate recalled.
Applegate also said she probably wouldn't watch the new season due to the difficulties she experienced while filming, but hopes people are able to "get past" what she feels are "noticeable changes."
She said, "If people hate it, if people love it, if all they can concentrate on is, 'Ooh, look at the cripple,' that's not up to me.
"I'm sure that people are going to be, like, 'I can't get past it.'"
