One of the most iconic landmarks in Dallas is getting a facelift, and will soon be no more.
The McDonald's located off I-30 across from the Dallas Zoo, which was decorated with an incredible zoo theme, will undergo renovations and be standardized, in order to "better serve the customers."
Once adorned with a zoo-themed paint job and plastic figures of animals and jungle shrubs, McDonald's spokesman Christopher Stanley wrote in an email per Dallas News that "When it's finished it will have a more modern look like most of our restaurants now."
Craig York, local owner of McDonald's, wrote in an email that his store is being transformed to "better serve customers."
He said, "While we were saddened to see the zoo site's animals vacating the building, the new restaurant upgrade allows us to better serve our customers, including self-order kiosks that allow you to browse the menu at your own pace, table service and upgrades to our drive -Thru and curbside pickup\."
Though the restaurant's dining room and bathrooms will be closed, the drive-thru will be open during the renovations.
