The DeLorean is synonymous with Back to the Future.  You have trouble thinking of one without thinking of the other.

But while Back to the Future has stood the test of time, DeLorean is always looking to innovate, and they have just introduced the world to their brand new Alpha5 electric car.  And it looks nothing like it did in Back to the Future.

Well, there is one key similarity: this car also has gullwing doors, but definitely no flux capacitor.

DeLorean unfortunately went bankrupt before BTTF debuted, so the new Alpha5 is the result of the evolution in its cars the company was expected to make.

According to CNN, to imagine what today’s DeLorean would look like, the company’s new designers had to fill in a nearly 40-year gap!  They wanted to imagine what new DeLoreans would look like had everything NOT stopped.

And the Alpha5 is the result of that work.

CEO Joost de Vries told CNN, “The coupe is our halo car.  It’s awesome. It’s the purest interpretation we have of the brand, but we need to get to the SUV if we’re going to become a car company.”
