Hundreds of businesses have been making the move from California to Texas to establish their new headquarters, so why not Hollywood?
Actor and Houston native Dennis Quaid has made it his mission to make Texas the "new film capital of the world."
Quaid explained during an appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime, "We want to make Texas the film capital of the world. That's what Texas used to really have – a great film incentive program and a great film crew base. About nine or 10 years ago, I made some great movies there and [I] love working there."
The 69-year-old added that Texas is "more business-friendly," and that it's "cheaper" to film in Texas.
Texas House Bill 4419 aims to increase film funding in the state, by establishing "a film events trust fund" that would raise the rebates provided by the state from $45 million to $200 million from its budget.
Quaid also mentioned the economic boost movie production would bring to Texas cities and towns.
"Texas did a really good job at taking a big share of the tech industry away from Silicon Valley," he said. "You go down to Austin and you can see that really clearly. And the same thing can be done with movies and television shows. It's a great place to shoot."
