12 years ago, a dog named Zoey mysteriously vanished from her home in Lafayette, California.
Despite being microchipped, there's been no trace of the pup for over a decade.
According to USA Today, "Zoey had been missing for so long, in 2015 the microchip company had actually listed her as 'deceased' in their records."
Well, on February 10, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office received a call about a stray dog that appeared "old and unwell," and after a scan of her tracking chip, it turned out to be Zoey!
Thankfully, the phone number attached to the chip still belonged to Zoey's owner, and a reunion for the ages was set up.
The woman of course was ecstatic. She said, "I'm definitely still in shock. I definitely didn't expect this to ever happen, so I'm really excited. Hopefully (we can) bring her back, get her healthy and let her live the rest of her life."
