If you want to get a rise out of anyone these days, just bring up tipping culture. How many of you get instead dread when we see the cashier at any shop or restaurant flip around that tablet so you can add a tip?
If you think tipping culture is outrageous, and use DoorDash pretty frequently, be prepared to get angry.
DoorDash customers received a pop-up ad on their apps this week notifying them that orders that do not tip their drivers might take longer than orders that do!
According to The Verge, DoorDash spokesperson Jenn Rosenberg says the prompt is "something that we're currently testing to help create the best possible experience for all members of our community."
Some might say though that DoorDash is holding your food hostage unless you leave a tip.
In a since-deleted post on X, a person who claims to be a former DoorDash driver posted that he often passed up offers where no tip was included, as those with tips had more of a guarantee for his time.
He advised, "If you want to wait an extra 1-2 hours to get your food, then don't add an extra dollar or two."
