While promoting his upcoming film F9, the next installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, John Cena said that Taiwan would actually be the first "country" to able to view the film.

This upset officials in China, as they don't consider Taiwan a country, and believe it to be one of their territories. And because China is such a major market for American movies, U.S. studios encouraged Cena to issue an apology on the Chinese social media app Sina Weibo, for calling Taiwan a country.

According to Mediaite, Cena said in his apology video, "I'm very, very sorry about my mistake. I apologize, I'm very sorry. You must understand that I really love, really respect China and the Chinese people. My apologies. See you."

After this apology was issued, Cena began getting canceled from both sides of the political spectrum for what truly boils down to an innocent mistake.

F9 is scheduled to be released in the U.S. June 25, and thus fas has made $163 million at the box office.
