The sports world this past weekend was obsessed with the exhibition boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr., one of the most decorated champions of all time, and Logan Paul, a YouTuber and generally annoying human.
When the numbers are released, no doubt this pay-per-view event will have drawn an insane number of viewers, but unfortunately, the actual fight failed to live up to the hype surrounding it.
The fight was scheduled for eight rounds only as an exhibition which meant for these two, there were no judges, no score was kept, and no winner was announced. And the full eight rounds included a dominating performance from Floyd, who mainly held back from attempting any "killshots" and letting Paul tire himself out, which he did.
Floyd said after the fight, per the New York Times, "He's better than I thought he was. I was surprised by him tonight." Paul wondered if Floyd had let him survive the fight, but added during a post-fight interview, "It's an honor to grace the ring with him, this is the coolest thing ever."
