It used to be back in the day where there were three things you would never discuss with anybody else: politics, religion, and how much money you make.
However, it appears that those tides have started to change.
According to a survey from Bankrate, Over 42% of Gen Z and 40% of Millennial workers are more likely to discuss their salaries with their coworkers, marking a momentous shift not before commonly seen in the workplace.
Bankrate analyst Sarah Foster told Grow, "Younger workers are changing workplace taboos when it comes to talking about your salary."
Younger employees feel this transparency will aid everyone in the office if getting higher salaries, and even if that doesn't happen, "having that knowledge about salaries in your field gives you powerful tools for career growth going forward," according to Monster career expert Vicki Salemi.
She says, "The fact that you're having a conversation is a win. Being in the dark means not knowing your worth. Once you have that information, now you have options."
