How the Grinch Stole Christmas came out in 1957, and 66 years later, it's finally getting a sequel.
Random House made the announcement earlier this week that How the Grinch Lost Christmas will be a direct sequel to the 1957 story, though it will not be written by Dr. Seuss.
Dr. Suess, real name Theodor Seuss Geisel, passed away in 1991, so the book will be written by Alastair Heim and illustrated by Aristides Ruiz.
According to EW, How the Grinch Lost Christmas will mark the "first time that the Grinch's narrative has been expanded upon without Seuss."
Heim has previously written several "by the Cat in the Hat" books including If I Had Your Vote, If I Ran Your School, and If I Were Saint Nick. Ruiz has also illustrated the Cat in the Hat's Learning Library books for 20 years.
Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Lost Christmas will hit bookshelves September 5!
