The entirety of Puerto Rico is dealing with “catastrophic flooding” and is currently without power after Hurricane Fiona made landfall with the territory.
According to the National Hurricane Center per CNN, Hurricane Fiona made landfall along the extreme southwestern coast of the territory, near Punta Tocon, at 1:20 p.m. this past Sunday with winds as high 85 mph.

Current forecasts are predicting 12-18 inches of rainfall reaching a max of 30 inches, which has led to “catastrophic flooding,” along with the entire territory losing power.
The hurricane center said, “These rains will produce life-threatening and catastrophic flash and urban flooding across Puerto Rico and the eastern Dominican Republic, along with mudslides and landslides in areas of higher terrain.”
In response, many organizations have begun seeking donations to aid the territory and its people:
Hurricane Fiona is the third of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season, and is forecast to become a major hurricane, which is a storm of Category 3 or higher, in about 48 hours, east of the Bahamas.
