Choosing the right friends to go on vacation with is an incredibly important decision; you don't want to risk ruining your entire trip because you want to party every night but brought a homebody!
Unfortunately, a woman named Aaliya Pasols had such the experience when she went on vacation with some friends to Florence.
Parsons writes in Elite Daily that while she wanted to explore the city's nightlife, her friend wanted to hit the hay so they could be up bright and early to check out some museums.
Therefore, there are several things that need to be examined and looked at before you decide to go on vacation with a friend.
First of all, Mariana Bockarova, Ph.D., a psychology professor at the University of Toronto, says you must look at the Big Five personality traits before deciding to go on a trip with someone:
-Extroversion
-Agreeableness
-Openness
-Conscientiousness
-Neuroticism
Bockarova says, "If you can evaluate what the personality is of the friend that you're considering going on vacation with, you can consider whether they would be a fun person to travel with. If they're high on neuroticism, they're more likely to engage in conflict, [whereas] people who are high in openness tend to have less conflict, for example.
Before you even consider heading out on the road with a buddy, Bockarova recommends always "laying down your boundaries," and suggests learning "effective coping strategies."
And if things do get heated, it's always best just to step away, reach a healthy compromise, but above all us, don't let it ruin your trip!
