We've all heard of Dry January, right, where you take this first month of the year and completely abstain from alcohol?
Well, there's another campaign of sorts that people are encouraged to participate in to start the year, and sorry dudes, this one is for the ladies, only.
It's called "JanuHairy," and for the entire month of January women are encouraged to stop shaving, waxing, and plucking in order to "challenge beauty standards," and help normalize body hair on women.
Per CNN, Januhairy founder Laura Jackson told British newspaper Metro in 2021, "Januhairy is liberating because it gets you thinking about the way you treat your body and why. Maybe soon we'll be at a point where people can just do what they want in relation to body hair and we won't even need to talk about it. That would be something."
An official JanuHairy Instagram account boasts over 40,000 followers, and says their goals include "promoting self-confidence, challenging societal beauty standards, and creating a supportive community where people can share their journey."
