Jennifer Lawrence remembers having the conversations about her weight leading up to her starring in the 2012 movie Hunger Games.

During a conversation with Viola Davis during one of Variety's "Actors on Actors" series, Lawrence remembers having discussions on how much weight she planned on losing for the role.

Lawrence recalled to Davis how adamant she was about not going on a diet, and talked about the effect it could have on young kids watching the movie.

The 32-year-old said, "Along with me being young and growing and not able to be on a diet, I don't know if I want all of the girls who are going to dress up as Katniss to feel like they can't because they're not a certain weight, and I can't let that seep into my brain either."

Lawrence told the BBC in 2013 that it was important for her to promote a positive body image when she played Katniss Everdeen.

Though Everdeen, who is selected to fight or die trying for District 12, was likely underfed and would have been "incredibly thin," Lawrence said at the time, "I just kept saying, 'We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing.'"
