Has there ever been a point in history where a heckler improved the experience of seeing a concert? The answer is no, but still people believe since they purchased a ticket, they can yell and shout whatever they want.
John Mellencamp is clearly one artist who feels "enough is enough."
At his show in Toledo on Sunday, video shows Mellencamp in the middle of telling a story when a brazen fan yelled for him to shup up and "play some music."
What followed was an exchange where Mellencamp called him a not-so-nice word that begins with a C and ends with "sucker," only for ANOTHER fan to shout and demand him to play "Authority Song."
Mellencamp proceeded to play only a few lines of "Jack and Diane" before abruptly ending the show and walking off stage.
According to the Toledo Blade, Mellencamp returned to the stage after about five minutes and performed several more songs, including "Rain on the Scarecrow," "Lonely Ol' Night" and "Pink Houses."
So maybe it's not a good idea for fans to heckle artists anymore. Just a thought. And as we saw from the Madonna incident where she called out a fan in a wheelchair for sitting during her concert, maybe the artists shouldn't heckle the crowd, either!
