Well, the summertime hits just keep on coming.

According to data from the U.S. National Centers for Environmental Prediction, yesterday July 4th was the HOTTEST day ever recorded for the planet Earth.

The average global temperature of 62.92 degrees beat the record of 62.62 degrees, which was set one day earlier on July 3rd!

And in case you want to feel worse about this current heatwave, there's a good chance that record gets broken once again after today!

According to U.S. News, the U.N. weather agency has warned that the presence of El Niño will make for even hotter temperatures forthcoming.

Petteri Taalas, secretary general of the World Meteorological Organization, said, "The onset of El Niño will greatly increase the likelihood of breaking temperature records and triggering more extreme heat in many parts of the world and in the ocean.

"Early warnings and anticipatory action of extreme weather events associated with this major climate phenomenon are vital to save lives and livelihoods."
