After almost 50 years, Rick Springfield fans will finally be able to secure an album they thought long lost.
Springfield's album Springfield, was supposed to be a follow-up to his sophomore effort Comic Book Heroes, but was shelved by Columbia Records due to its "hard rock sound and suggestive lyrics."
Per Noise 11, Springfield remembers the album as "a hedonistic couple of months of rock and roll and partying and no parents. Songs came out of all that fire and sexual angst of being 25 and being on your own."
The song "American Girls" was meant to be the lead single off the album.
The album also features a cover of The Beatles "Eleanor Rigby," which Springfield had performed earlier in his career with his band "Zoot."
Springfield will finally get its proper release next Friday, May 12th.
