Everyone's played Truth or Dare, right? It's a fun party game with your friends that hopefully doesn't get too real when someone elects to tell a Truth.
Well this game between a group of friends over in the U.K. got very real.
A few years ago, 94-year-old Mary Gregory died from smoke inhalation after her house caught on fire. Her death was ruled an accident.
That is until her 21-year-old grandson Tiernan Darnton admitted during a game of Truth or Dare with his friends, "I have a secret I haven't told anyone. I may have killed someone."
Darnton made a similar confession during a therapy session in 2019 so as such, Gregory's case was opened again and Darnton was accused of her murder.
Evidence gathered against Darnton showed detailed drawings of Gregory's home, containing labels "good hiding place," and "quick exit," and references for needing a "good alibi".
Darnton was arrested for the crime, but pleaded that he only lit the fire because he didn't want Gregory to continue suffering from dementia.
Darnton was found guilty of her murder this week. He will be sentenced later today, per the BBC.
