Daniel Asseff is a 51-year-old man from Las Vegas who can apparently talk to ghosts.

That's at least what he told Judge Ann Zimmerman in a court hearing Tuesday, as Asseff was on trial for several charges, allegedly committed all these acts, because the ghost of Dale Earnhardt Sr. told him to do so.

Last Friday, Asseff was arrested after authorities say he drove down the wrong side of the road, causing a crash in the process. He's facing charges of attempted murder, DUI, and battery with a deadly weapon, PLUS he had heroin and meth in his system at the time of the incident.

Asseff had a valid excuse though. He told Judge Zimmerman he drove down the wrong side of the road on orders from the ghost of Dale Earnhardt Sr., who told him to drive down the wrong way on the freeway in order to get the mayor's attention and bring NASCAR back to Las Vegas.

Believe it or not, nobody believed Asseff's story that he talked to the ghost of Dale Earnhardt.

According to Live 5 News, prosecutors asked for a $200,000 bail for Asseff, but Judge Zimmerman RAISED it to $500,000, ordered him not to drive, and called him a danger to the community.
