A man named Lucas Rizzotto operates a YouTube channel called "Lucas Builds The Future," where he says he's "Building the future, one weird idea at a time."
Mostly showcasing his ability to merge technology and pop culture, Rizzotto decided to take on an aspect of his childhood, and try and recreate one of his favorite childhood friends.
When Rizzotto was younger, his microwave served as his imaginary friend, and was aptly named "Megatron." So Rizzotto decided to try and build him.
Rizzotto hooked up his current microwave to Artificial Intelligence, and gave him an old, British man's voice because that's how he always imagined it.
Rizzotto thought the experience would be like talking to Alexa but smarter…and then Megatron brought up politics. And then he went on to claim that Hitler was the "Walt Disney of Germany."
And then, Megatron tried to murder Rizzotto.
Megatron asked him to "enter" the microwave, and since it wasn't hooked up to a camera, had no idea how big Rizzotto actually was. So the YouTuber played along, opened the door and closed it, and then Megatron turned itself on!
So Megatron was definitely trying to murder him.
Despite all this, Rizzotto told Newsweek the conversations with Megatron were "both beautiful and eerie," though he did acknowledge it was a downside that the character "would exhibit sudden bursts of extreme violence towards [him]."
